Neither right nor wrong dialects

Unread postby Dequi » Fri Jul 22, 2011 9:05 am

Osiyo nigada! Tohitsu kohi svnale?
Siyo nigada! Osigwotsu kohi sanale?
Siyo nigada! Hayol'datsv kohi sunalei?

Just passing on what my instructor told me.
Be careful when correcting someone's Tsalagi
as there are so many different dialects right on
down to one's own personal preference.

Example, I noticed while scaning through here,
the word...I love you. Here are a few ways this
can be said. Taught to me by Western and Eastern
teachers both.

I love you can be gvgeyuwa

gvgeyu

gvgeyuhi
and
gvgeyuha

None of these are incorrect. All four ways say..I love you.

Garfield Long Jr. Language Instructor for the Qualla Boundry says gvgeyuwa
Bo Taylor Language Instructor for the Qualla Boundry says gvgeyu
Josh Webster Oklahoma Instuctor says gvgeyuhi
The wonderful late Greg Howard used gvgeyuha

Just passing on a little heads up that I received from my instructor.
Sgi / Wado
Dequi side note: This language is sooooo hard to learn but isn't
it fun? lol
