Clitics and large numbers. Numbers as single units?

Unread postby ᎹᎦᎵ » Mon Aug 27, 2012 8:02 pm

Clitics and large numbers. Treat the numbers as single units or split them?

Examples:

ᏍᎪᎯᏥᏆ ᏔᎵᏍᎪᎯᏍ?
Is it one hundred and twenty?

or

ᏍᎪᎯᏥᏆᏍ ᏔᎵᏍᎪᎯ?
Is it one hundred and twenty?

Don't know if it's because of how I learned it, or whatever, but I understand this. The other was a little...well...weird.

Hrmmmm

What about:

ᏔᎵᏍᎪᎯᏥᏆ ᏑᏓᎵᏍᎪ ᏐᏁᎳᏊ.
Just two hundred and sixty nine

-vs-

ᏔᎵᏍᎪᎯᏥᏆᏊ ᏑᏓᎵᏍᎪ ᏐᏁᎳ.
Just two hundred and sixty nine

Think about the different ways we say numbers, such as "and" where "and" isn't actually supposed to be, or "point (cardinal number)" when one should normally use "and (ordinal number)" for any number that is not an integer and is a real.

So some may use the suffixes after all the numbers, and some may say them after the first number.

An example, in my head I hear "one hundred and thirty seven point forty two". If someone were to say "one hundred thirty seven and forty seconds", I'd be completely lost.

So, #-Ꮛ/Ꮚ ##, could be the same as ###-Ꮛ/Ꮚ
